Relevant Discussions with KPat

Somethings should never be changed. Just as David provided key foundational elements for Solomon’s Temple, so past generations have contributed towards building the church. Let’s not be too quick to “deconstruct” what they have given us. 

Our identity as Apostolic Pentecostals is deeply connected to our history. We understand who we are by looking at the believers who came before us. This includes both the early church in the Bible and faithful historical movements.

Both Solomon and the Jews returning to Jerusalem from Babylon were instructed to use the original measurements given by Moses. We might be tempted to think that newer measurements would work better, but in building the Kingdom, it must be done according to “the first measure.”

To be authentically the people of God, there must be connection to God’s ongoing mission. Nostalgia is not enough, it must rooted in the “big picture” of God’s ongoing work. 

Israel needed to know the why and how of the past in order to understand their present mission. Is this important today? In the episode, we continue our discussion on the measure of history.

As Israel returned to Jerusalem following their Babylon captivity, they needed to be reminded of the value and importance of what had been. 1 & 2 Chronicles served to emphasize this point.

We began this lengthy discussion several episodes ago with the question “God Needs Me?” Join us, as we wrap up (for now) this conversation with a declaration, “Yes, God Needs You“

Many times rejection leaves one feeling stripped and vulnerable. Instead of succumbing to the overwhelming emotions, we strive to turn rejection into preparation for something great. 

 
We continue our discussion on overcoming the challenges of feeling devalued. Rejection, like trauma, can leave one sensing that they have nothing to offer. Let’s redirect this belief into a positive contribution. 

In 2 Samuel chapter 9, Mephibosheth demonstrates for us the proper response when in the presence of the king,  even though life has left us feeling lame.
